Meet the Surgeons


Mr. James Leong    M.B.B.S.    F.R.A.C.S.    M.S.
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon

James Leong is a medical graduate from the University of Melbourne and he has successfully completed the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship examination in 2002.

He also has a Master of Surgery from the University of Melbourne where research was undertaken in the field of ischeamia reperfusion injury in skeletal muscle. He was a microsurgery fellow and research fellow at the Bernard O'Brien Institute of Microsurgery, St Vincents Hospital.

Further fellowships were undertaken overseas in hand surgery and breast reconstruction at St Andrews, Chelmsford, Essex, United Kingdom.

He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and his research work has been presented at Scientific conferences in Australia and internationally.

He is currently appointed as an Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery at Monash University. He holds consultant positions at Monash Health, Alfred Hospital, The Valley Private and Corymbia House Day Surgery.

He is trained in all areas of Plastic surgery including facial reconstruction, hand surgery, microsurgery, skin cancer surgery and cleft lip and palate surgery.

He is an avid supporter of Interplast Australia and has been on multiple voluntary medical missions overseas. He is a keen skier, tennis player and loves fishing.


Mr. Tam Dieu    M.B.B.S.    F.R.A.C.S.
Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon

Mr Dieu graduated from Monash University medical school, in 1991 and was awarded the Association of Monash Medical Graduates Award as the Most Valuable Medical Student.

He successfully completed the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship exam in May 2003. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

Mr Dieu was awarded the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Foundation ANZ Journal of Surgery Scholarship in 2004. He has published widely in peer-reviewed international journals; and also attended and presented at Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery conferences in the USA, Europe, Asia and Australia. His specialty areas include Skin Cancers, Cosmetic, Hand & General Plastic Reconstructive surgery.
